Dear fellow Beaumont RN,

As nurses, we care deeply about our patients, our profession, our hospital, and our community. That is why we are organizing to form our union with the Michigan Nurses Association. We know a strong voice for nursing staff is a strong voice for our patients.

Beaumont used to be the gold standard of health care in Michigan, but now morale is dropping as the administration unilaterally makes cuts. We have seen too many of our colleagues leave for other facilities that have safer staffing levels and offer better opportunities to provide quality care. It often feels like Beaumont is a large corporation focusing only on the bottom line and treating nurses and patients like just another number.

It doesn’t have to be this way. We can stand up for ourselves and call for what is right. By coming together to form a union, we can make sure that Beaumont’s executives listen to us when we tell them what our patients need. We can advocate for a better and safer workplace for our patients and for ourselves.

We are the first 100 nurses across shifts, units, and seniorities leading a growing movement at Beaumont Royal Oak organizing for our collective voice. We want a union so we can fight for safe staffing levels. We want a union so that we can together advocate for the wages and benefits necessary to recruit and retain quality RNs. Most of all, we want a union so that we can have a meaningful collective voice in the decision-making process at our hospital.

We know that winning our union won’t be easy. Already, Beaumont’s executives have hired expensive outside consultants that have a history of getting paid at least $3,000 a day each to try to stop us*. Yet, we remain undeterred and unafraid. The administration wants us to feel like we can’t make things better for our patients – but the stories and experiences of MNA nurses across our state tell a different story.**

Together, we can Build a Better Beaumont.

We need all nurses from all around the hospital. If you’re not involved yet, fill out the contact form here.

We are proud to be organizing to form our union. Join us!
